Botanical Zentangle Class at Acton Borborough



Paper:  Strathmore Toned Tan paper (80lb)  Micron 01, White Charcoal Pencil, # 2 pencil and Gelly Roll White 

       Patterns: Cat-Kin, Ahh, Verdigogh, Poke Leaf, Moocha, Fescu, Antidots, Sanibelle, and Angel Fish.

 

Experimenting with color

 

 The tiles with Drupe are colored with Inktense pencils and water.

 Cyme was done with Tombow dual tip water color markers and white Gell pen resist 

 Sampler tiles were also done with Tombows to get a feel for mixing and blending etc. 

 The Paisley tile is done with cheap Artist Loft pencils (24 for $5 at A.C.Moore).  We ran out of time to do the paisley so the students got homework.

 

 

 

 



Here's what I did this past weekend.  Tangled an apron  and played with Gracie.  She loves to be in the way when I take pictures.

 

Here's a picture of just the Apron.   The Apron is from PayTime in Arlington.  I used a combination of Identipen's, Ultra Fine Sharpies and a Cool Grey Fabrico(#181) for shading.

Phew glad I took a closer look at this one before posting.  My toes were showing. Yuck!  I do love the bottom part and the Owl.  not as happy with the water lily.  To dark, and the water too blue.  Hopefully it will fade - eventually.

 

Close to My Heart Blog Hop

Here's something new, something old and something blue.  A Completed Mini Flip Album.

 

 

This album is constructed from a "Close to My Heart" paper set called "Victory".   To see more pages click on the Close to My Heart Tab above.

 

Something New:  I completed an album and have it filled with pictures!  yeah!  Also new is that I did this a guest Designer for Close to My Heart Consultant Kat Ancha.

 

Something Old:  Pictures from 1937 to 1944,  WWII pictures of the courtship of my Mother and Father.  Well the last picture is from 1962.  That picture is of Mom, Dad and my 4 sisters and myself.  Kind of like showing the results of the courtship. :)

 

Something Blue;  One of the papers was blue and there are blue highlights throughout.  The Victory theme was more of a manly color scheme.  But with no hunting, fishing, bowling sports etc.. to geti n the way.

Fan Art Bruins Jersey - Origami

Should have thought of this earlier.  A couple of years ago I borrowed Joseph Wu's Canucks Fan Art and made a Bruins Fan Art Origami Jersey.

This is the Jersey Square.

 

 Save the picture to you computer as you may need to resize before printing.  Cut on the blue line.  Fold like the origami shirt - if you need instructions:  Google Origami Hockey jersey and look for a viedo by Joseph Wu.

I spent most of Saturday in Warner New Hampshire at their "Spring into Warner Event".  Sandy Stein Bartholomew opened her studio and I set up a small display of my upcoming classes.  I also provided some Magic Scratch postcards for people to play with.  Fun talking with people and wandering the town looking at Gourd Fairy Houses, Wood Turned Bowls, Jewelry etc.
   In addition Sandy had two large boards attached to the outside of her building for a Tangled Mural.  Here are some pictures of the Mural being worked.

 

There's a lot more tangleing to be done.  So some Saturday soon!

Tangle U

Recharged and ready to rock!   I just attended Tangle U with 55 CZT's.  I'm revamping/refreshing my Intro to Zentangle classes and will be adding Color and more Botanicals to my stock of tanglepatterns to teach.

Here's a quick sample of some Botanicals in color and in shades of grey and brown!

Happy Bubbles

Happy Bubbles by Terry Hathaway

Happy Bubbles is designed after the carpet in the children’s area of the Northborough Public Library in Mass.   The students in my 6-10 yr old class helped me name it.   It is a happy pattern because of the happy pencil smiles in each large bubble.

The Steps

Happy Bubbles
1.        Scatter several large circles inside your string.  Leave plenty of space between them and include some partial circles at the edges.
2.       Draw some medium circles close to the large circles (2 or 3 for each large circle)
3.       Fill just the medium circles with dots
4.       Connect the large circle “Islands” with many little circles still leaving some open white space
5.       With your pencil add rounding to the large circles by drawing happy smiles in each.
6.       Blend the pencil smiles if you wish.
